Wood & Fiberglass Boat Restoration

1957 19’ Mariner Runabout

You can follow the progress of this 1957 19’ Mariner as photos are updated on Wednesdays.

This was time consuming, hammer & wood chisel for the most part. When satisfied with the fit the frames were soaked with the CPES & left to cure

Next week part 22 - Continuing on frame prep. for new battens. Plus part 16 for the Silver Dollar.

This page will feature the work being done to bring this 45’ Motor Yacht back to the water.

This next step took place on both sides at the same time. Again to preserve the shape while the work continues. Battens are removed, frames inspected & marked for possible repair. Nails & broken screws came out - not always easy.
Notches for inserting the battens were cleaned to fresh wood. Then each notch was tested with a piece of the new batten for correct depth. Then the alignment from bow to stern was corrected so a one piece batten would fit back with not fore & aft kinks.
